4th-6th Art as Activism (Tuesdays) - Part 1
4th-6th Art as Activism (Tuesdays) - Part 1
Instructor: Jennifer Ober
Ages: 4th-6th Grades
4th-6th Art as Activism is focused on empowering young artists to make their community a better place through their art. Students will begin with a guided project where they will create a design that brings awareness to the issue of food insecurity in Wimberley. Students will then learn how to screen print their design on items that will be sold to raise funds for our community food bank. From there students will transition to more independent projects under the same theme and will decide as a group which art media to pursue over the 8 session course. Projects are specifically designed to accommodate students of all skill levels and can be adjusted accordingly to meet each student's specific needs.
4th-6th graders can continue their art journey after Spring Break by signing up for "4th-6th Ceramics (Tuesdays) - Part 2".
Jennifer Ober graduated from UT Austin with a BFA in Studio Art. She added her TX teaching certification in 2001 and taught K-6 art in Austin ISD for 10 years, earning Teacher of the Year in 2007. After moving to Wimberley Jennifer opened up her private studio, Agua Fresca Studios, to summer camps and after school art classes. She also taught K-12 art at Hill Country Academy in Dripping Springs. These days she contributes time to projectART as a founding board member and regular instructor.
