Mindful Raku: Cultivating Presence through Clay
Mindful Raku
Cultivating Presence Through Clay
Led by ceramic artist and mindfulness practitioner Gabriel Parque, Mindful Raku explores the intersection of mindfulness and raku ceramics, guiding participants to embrace the art of pottery as a form of mindful practice. Students will learn the traditional Japanese raku firing technique while engaging in mindfulness exercises that promote creativity, presence, and self-expression. Classes will include lessons on raku glazes, raku clay bodies and making forms for raku firing. Gabriel will incorporate guided mindfulness practices, including meditation and breathing exercises, alongside hands-on pottery instruction. Students will work in a supportive environment that encourages creativity and sharing of personal experience. The class will culminate in an on-site raku firing.
