This instructor-developed course will be taught by Dr. Dan Scheuerer, Florida 2007 Florida American History Teacher of the Year. Introductory focus will be on the harsh Versailles Treaty and the turbulent Weimar Republic. Attention will be given to the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party. Major shocking events of the Hitler dictatorship will be presented e.g. the burning of the books, the Night of the Long Nights purging of the SA, the Kristallnacht program against the Jews, and the takeover of Austria and the Sudetenland.   Both domestic and foreign affairs will be presented. The persecution of the Jews and various "inferiors" will be highlighted.
