When working with hand tools, one of the biggest challenges is removing material quickly. Many become frustrated using hand saws and planes to get wood down to the size a project requires. In this demonstration we will go over how to go from log size pieces of wood to usable shapes with a froe and hatchet. These techniques are usually used in green woodworking to make spoons, bowls, chair parts, and other implements with very straight strong grain but they can also be used with air dried or kiln dried wood.
