Using fluid acrylic we will explore layering and glazing with transparent colors. We will also try many ways to create texture. You will be able to complete several paintings.
Materials:
- Fluid acrylics…golden is the best brand You can buy them in 1 oz sizes to save money.
- Transparent colors such as transparent, red oxide, Pyrrole orange, Hansa yellow, nickel azo gold, nickel azo yellow, Jenkins green, sap green, Van Dyke brown, Titian bluff, black, white, any of the quinacridones, any of the pthalos. A few opaque colors. This is one palette. You may want another color palette although the first project will be in warm colors.
- Light molding paste, fluid medium in gloss or matte, spray bottle, stencils, old bath towel, various materials to make texture, such as bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard, dollies, old credit card, a comb, cardboard tubes, tin foil, etc. palette knife.
- Other gels such as glass bead, fiber paste, crackle paste, etc are optional
- You can work on canvas, wood, or heavy-duty watercolor paper.
- Students will need to bring either canvas, board canvas, or wooden cradle boards that have been just gessoed. Also, some heavy paper to practice on.
Please Note: If you don’t have all the colors the instructor has supplies students can use for a donation. Also, it’s important to bring not only transparent colors but some opaque colors as well.
