"The Art of Oil Reduction" with Lindsay Carroll
- Ages 18+*
- Single Workshop: Saturday, February 8th from 9-12:30pm [break for lunch] 1:30-5pm
Students will need to bring their own canvas because multiple sizes are possible for this class. If you don't have a canvas, tell us in your registration form!
Students will create monochrome oil reductions and build color on top to create a finished piece. Students will have the opportunity to create a medium to large painting all in one day using a technique which removes paint from the canvas to create a monochromatic value map. Once the value map is complete, students will then add pops of color on top of the wet painting to complete the piece.
Review the Student Cancellation Policy before registering.
About the Artist:
Lindsay Carroll is an award-winning oil and pastel artist living and working in the High Country of North Carolina. She received her formal training at a young age from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, where she studied from 2007-2009. Her methods—which blend classical and contemporary realism— will be explored in WAC courses where students will work with oil, charcoal, and pastel. Courses may explore a variety of subject matter or may be centered upon the figure and figurative realism.
