Deconstructing Process: A Strategy for Identifying a Role for Generative AI in Teaching and Learning

In this workshop, Andrew Bell will guide faculty through a reflective and interactive process to deconstruct the ways they teach and their students learn, uncovering opportunities for generative AI to enhance both. Participants will explore their teaching practices and students’ learning workflows step by step, identifying bottlenecks, repetitive tasks, and creative challenges that generative AI tools can support. Whether it’s streamlining feedback, fostering creativity, or scaffolding learning, this session will empower faculty to align AI applications with their pedagogical goals while ensuring meaningful, student-centered learning experiences. Faculty will leave with a clearer sense of how generative AI can complement and transform their teaching strategies.
