This course introduces students to object-oriented programming using the Java programming language. Core topics in the context of the Java programming language include object-oriented design concepts, such as classes, interfaces, arrays, and recursion. Students are also introduced to standard Java libraries.
Much of the course is project-based, with assignments emphasizing the design of classes and algorithms appropriate to a problem.
Course Goals:
- Learn about datatypes, loops, arrays (1-dimensional and 2-dimensional), and recursion
- Understand how inheritance and recursion can be used to solve programs
- Work on projects to handle file processing and manipulation
- Explore version control and GitHub
- Prepare students for Java AP Level course
