Intro to Making Boxes, 8 hours, $400
Who doesn’t need a little box to hold a treasure? This class will explore how to make such a container, whether would be square, rectangular, round, or any other shape of your choosing. Class will start with students making tools necessary to insure sharpe edges of boxes from files. Two separate ways to make square or rectangular boxes will be demonstrated. Assembly of the box will be demonstrated including how to fit the lid. Boxes will be made out of copper.
Class is limited ton two students. Instruction will be by the “discuss, demo, do” approach. If the time is not convenient for you please contact the instructor at jimcohenjudaica@gmail.com to discuss alternative times. This class can be done either over successive weekends or on a single day.
Materials fee, $60.00 (paid directly to the instructor) includes all metal, copper, as well as studio supplies and 2 files to make scrapers. Note: If you desire to make a sterling silver box please contact me regarding additional materials fee for the sterling silver. Classes are conducted in a heated classroom.
