Saturday Beginner Sessions I
Saturday morning sessions are intended as an accessible gateway for new volunteers and membership with the Durham Bike Co-op (DBC). We will spend our time mostly taking apart old donated bicycles and recycling and sorting their many components when possible, and/or general shop maintenance tasks. In the process, attendees will learn about the various bicycle parts and how they all work together.
3 hours of volunteer time spent here can help you earn a one-year membership to the DBC. Attending these sessions will eventually provide participants with a jumping-off point into more advanced mechanic training sessions usually occurring on Sundays or to DIY shop sessions on Thursdays or other days of the week. (See event calendar for active sessions to sign up for)
Vaccinations recommended. Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes to prevent injury while working in the shop. Ages 15 and below requires a parent or guardian in attendance.
Please also note that this session is not set up or designated for repairing patron and members' own bicycles.
