Introduction to Fly Fishing

This one day introductory course is designed to get anyone

interested in fly fishing familiar with the gear, terms and tactics of

the sport. Topics to be covered are: fly fishing equipment and

how to set it up, types of flies, basic methods of fishing, a few

knots and the mechanics of casting.

The course is offered free to the public, and club membership is not required. Registration is

required (through this webpage). A simple lunch is provided, and weather permitting, we

hope to get outside in the afternoon to demonstrate and practice

casting, so a hat and sunglasses are suggested.

A follow up, hands on class will be offered in Bishop, CA on 3/29/25 taught on the water

by a fly fishing guide. Club membership will be required and there

will be a fee for the Bishop, CA. class.
