Succession Planning Consultant Study Group - The DEI Debate

NONPROFIT SUCCESSION PLANNING AND THE DEI DEBATE: The Consultant's Role in Tough Conversations About Equity
A Think Tank roundtable open to all aspiring and experienced succession planning consultants to inspire, network, and advance Succession Planning practice with panel presenters.
Succession Planning consultants strive to create meaningful connections between diverse people and opinions about the future leadership of a nonprofit organization. A practical succession plan represents the consensus of many people that agree there must be equitable policies, pathways and pipelines that lead to retaining and advancing talent. Nonprofit organizations, associations and congregations are uniquely positioned, through their succession planning discussions, to lead efforts exploring the richness of diversity that exist in communities and remove barriers that have stood in the way for all people to excel.
During our Succession Planning BootCamp Study Group, participants will be challenged to wrestle with the following questions in community with their peers:
· What is the relationship between succession planning consultation and advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belongingness in a nonprofit organization?
· What challenges and opportunities do the current political environment regarding DEI have on succession planning consultations with nonprofit organizations? Given this context, how do you see advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belongingness with succession planning in a nonprofit organization?
· What do you need to be prepared to be successful in your succession planning work given this context?
· Are succession planning consultants intending to do anything differently regarding their client engagement, service delivery and marketing practices starting in 2025?
We hope you’ll join us as members of the BootCamp faculty provide their perspective on these questions and facilitate discussion among the participants to examine DEI in the current climate and its impact on our work.
