Optimist Learn-To-Sail (O-LTS) Session 2

Optimist Learn-To-Sail (O-LTS) Session 2 is a 3-week daily half-day program that is tailored to the beginning sailor who has little or no singlehanded sailing experience, and/or the junior sailor with some experience who's not yet ready for the rigors of a full-day class.

Opti sailors usually are 8-13 years old and are 110 lbs or less. In the O-LTS Program, sailors learn to properly rig/de-rig, care for and launch their boat, sail in and out of the harbor, dock their boat, sail comfortably and with confidence, capsize, and right the boat.

The class practices techniques such as sailing upwind and tacking, sailing downwind and gybing, and basic port-starboard right-of-way rules. By the end of O-LTS, sailors are practicing techniques such as beginner starts, rounding buoys, and sailing a short racecourse. At the instructor's discretion, Learn to Sail participants may be invited to race in regattas.

There is no class on July 4.

Note: PAYMENT AND COMPLETED REGISTRATION PACKETS MUST BE RECEIVED IN ORDER TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION. In case of a waiting list, students will be accepted in the order that their package and payment are received.
