Beginning Fly Casting

Learn the fundamentals of fly casting from Deep Creek’s casting coordinator Dennis Otsuka. Dennis is a certified casting instructor with Fly Fishers International and previous casting instructor at BassPro.
The course will cover the basics needed to develop your casting skills: the pick up and lay down cast, false casting, and line management. Time will be spent evaluating each student’s cast and correcting errors.
We will meet on the lawn to the left of the main entrance to Fairmont Park off Market Street (the entrance nearest the 60). If you have a rod, reel, line and leader, please bring them. If you do not, please let us know so we can provide one for you.
The cost of the class is $15 for DCFF members and $25 for non-members. Members of Stream Born and High Desert Fly Fishers can register at the member cost. You can join DCFF or renew your membership on the Deep Creek Fly Fishers website: deepcreekflyfishers.org.
