Youth Woodworking Program: Small End Table

PLEASE NOTE: The student's parent/guardian must attend the information session on Thursday, March 20 from 5:30pm-6pm in order for the student to be enrolled.
Saratoga Joinery is excited to offer our first ever youth woodworking program for students ages 13 and up!
Over four hands-on 2-hour sessions, young builders will learn essential woodworking skills while crafting their very own small end table.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will:
- Learn basic woodworking techniques, including measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing.
- Safely use hand tools and select power tools under supervision.
- Develop problem-solving skills and confidence in working with wood.
- Take home a beautifully crafted end table to showcase their hard work!
No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and create. All materials and safety equipment will be provided. Spaces are limited, so sign up today for this fun and rewarding experience!

- Program & Project Overview

- Cut materials for project parts
- Glue table top
Session 2:
- Trace leg pattern
- Cut legs out
- Sand & shape the legs
- Cut out circle top
Session 3:
- Sand table legs
- Sand table top
- Prepare for assembly
Session 4:
- Assemble table
- Final sanding and finishing
- Showcase of final project and photo
About the Instructor:
Preston Sweeney is a middle school engineering/technical trades teacher at Maple Avenue Middle School. He is grateful to be a part of the Saratoga Joinery team and excited for the opportunities the organization will offer people to gain experience in the world of woodworking. Preston has a true passion for all things woodworking as well as collecting vintage tools.
