2nd Beat Hack: Longform Workshop with Greg Taveres and Amber Nash

Workshop: The 2nd Beat Hack with Greg Tavares and Amber Nash!

In every long form that I am a part of I ask myself the question “what must happen because this is happening.”

I don’t think what could happen, I think what must happen. This thinking has helped me immensely when it comes to second beats and heightening.

In this workshop we will work on 2 person realistic scenes and finding second beats by asking the question “what must happen."

Check out their new book “Improv for Couples: Fun Games for You and Your Partner” available on Amazon March 15.

About Amber Nash:

Amber Nash graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Psychology but if she’s being honest she always wanted to be on stage. Amber joined the ensemble of renowned Atlanta comedy and improv theatre, Dad’s Garage in 2004. She served as their Education Director for 6 years, teaching hundreds of students improv. She used her experience working in therapeutic residential programs for the state of Georgia to build a high school outreach program as well as developing team building workshops for corporate clients. Amber’s true passion is in performance. She has created innumerable improv formats as well as scripted shows, performed in more shows than she can count and has used her status as an ensemble member to help shape the theatre Dad’s Garage is today. Amber has toured the world teaching and performing improv with her husband Kevin Gillese. Amber is perhaps best known for being the voice of Pam Poovey on the hit animated series Archer.

About Greg Tavares:

Greg Tavares started doing improv in 1985 and never stopped. He has performed in thousands of shows and taught hundreds of classes. He studied acting (BFA) and directing (MFA) and has written and directed over 30 plays. He created the curriculum taught in Theatre 99’s improv training program, based on his book, Improv for Everyone. During the pandemic, Greg was going stir-crazy, so he offered free improv classes for couples over Zoom—those classes were the inspiration for Improv for Couples. His other books include Daddy Issues: How to Stop Worrying and Love Being a Dad and I Am the Horrible Thing. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife, Sara, and their two boys.
