Day 1 (Saturday March 1st) will be in an online webinar format from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Day 2 (Sunday March 9th) will be in-person with the range qualifier and additional instruction on safe firearms handling, establishing a proper grip on a handgun, and holstering/re-holstering at OnPoint Range in Raleigh from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

While we will cover the rules of firearm safety, the basics of operating a handgun, and general handgun maintenance this class is not focused on shooting. This is a class focused on the legal use of deadly force in North Carolina with a shooting qualification. In order to receive credit for this class, students must pass a written exam and a shooting qualification at ranges of 3, 5, and 7 yards. Failure to pass the written exam or the shooting qualification as set by the NC Dept of Justice will result in course failure. Registration costs are NOT refundable or transferable due to failure but you may contact Union Defense LLC for remedial opportunities after class.

Students will need a pistol and 30 rounds of factory ammunition. Hearing and eye protection will be provided. Defensive caliber handguns (9mm, .40 S&W, .380, etc.) are recommended. Glock 17 and Glock 45 handguns will be available as class loaners if a student does not currently own a handgun.

VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL FIREARMS COURSES. YOU MUST BE LEGALLY ELIGIBLE TO OWN A FIREARM IN THIS STATE IN ORDER TO ATTEND AND RECEIVE A PERMIT.
