**Successful Music Leadership in Special Education with GITC Founder Jess Baron **

Course Prerequisite: None

This virtual workshop empowers music educators, special educators, and support service specialist and paraprofessionals to facilitate music inclusively so any learner can participate. We’ll explore how students with diverse and neurodivergent learning styles, physical challenges, speech and language issues, and varying abilities can experience making music. We’ll work on effective communication, classroom environment, and sensory-friendly teaching, as well as physical supports, and more.

This will be the first of three (3) sequential workshops supporting you in how to make music fun, accessible, and transformational for students with extra support needs. Anyone serving students in special ed, or with IEPs and 504 plans is encouraged to participate. Let’s collaborate and learn from each other ways to break down barriers in music education so all learners can succeed.

Session 1: Sunday, March 23, 2025

Session 2: Sunday, April 27, 2025

Session 3: Sunday, May 18, 2025

Workshop Time: 2:30 - 4:00 PM PT / 3:30 - 5:00 PM MT / 4:30 - 6:00 PM CT / 5:30 - 7:00 PM ET

If you do not have an ukulele, they are easy to purchase through in person and online music stores. You may find reasonable student models in your local store, and it's great to try a uke out in person before buying.

If you want to shop online, you can purchase a nice uke for under $100 from the Terry Carter Music Store online. Let Terry know you are a GITC teacher and ask for the discounted price. You can see their lower cost ukes HERE.

If dollars are tight and you wish to request a scholarship ukulele in order to take this class, please fill out this survey and we’ll be back in touch soon! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GITCsupplies25
