Join us with Teaching Artist, Karen Murtha for this 4 hour individualized learning session.

In this course we will use a spot lit model with the goal of learning to understand the structure, proportions, and anatomy of the human figure. It will also be important to capture the gesture or position of the pose, plus light and shadow to define form. Clothing adds another level to your work, establishing how it lays on and contours to the body and becomes the challenge. An example would be working with folds, patterns or prints. Sheer draped fabric will allow the artist to experience the unique way to portray this when overlayed. The class begins with the model doing short poses, followed by poses with extended time to establish sophistication.
Some drawing experience is helpful but I encourage new artists, especially, to experience an actual live model and enjoy the medium. Instructor assistance and examples will be provided.
