Friday Evening:
This Church Safety Team training event is designed to better enable Team Members to build a functional Church Safety Team that operates efficiently in a variety of contexts including natural and man-made disasters.
Here are some topics that will be discussed in training as time allows:
- Team Organization
- Guns and Gear Recommendations
- The importance of facilities management, communications, and access
- How Domestic Violence impacts safety and security in Houses of Worship
- Communication and De-escalation
- Pastoral Protection, Stage Management, Staff Involvement, Guest Speaker(s)
- Aftermath of a Significant Event
Saturday Range Day (what to bring):
- Lunch, snacks, and plenty of water
- Defensive Semi Automatic Pistol
- Backup gun (optional)
- 3 double stack or 5 single stack magazines - this is a requirement
- Strong side hip or appendix holster (quality kydex, or a similar type where the top of the holster remains open)
- 500 rounds ammunition
- Eye and ear protection - Electronic Ear Protection STRONGLY recommended
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Gear that can withstand rigorous use. We will be spending a lot of time coming out of, and going back to, the holster.
