Interactive Decision Training

Training for the Real Fight
In a violent encounter, the fight doesn’t happen on a square range under controlled conditions. It happens in dynamic, unpredictable environments where decisions must be made in fractions of a second. Interactive Decision-Based Training (IDBT)bridges the gap between technical shooting skills and real-world application by immersing students in scenario-driven experiences that demand critical thinking, situational awareness, decision-making, and decisive action.
Why Interactive Decision-Based Training?
Many training programs focus solely on technical proficiency—marksmanship, draw speed, and weapon manipulation. While these skills are essential, they are not enough. The true test of a defender is the ability to apply those skills when the stakes are real. IDBT replicates the stress, complexity, and uncertainty of armed encounters, ensuring that students develop not just technical skill, but applied readiness—the ability to assess, decide, and act under pressure.
What to Expect in IDBT
- Scenario-Based Training: Students engage in realistic encounters designed to test both soft and technical skills. These scenarios range from simple decision-making exercises to complex defensive situations.
- Stress Inoculation: By introducing controlled stressors—such as time pressure, environmental distractions, and role players—IDBT helps students build emotional control and confidence in high-stakes situations.
- Situational Awareness & Decision-Making: Training includes threat recognition, pre-attack indicators, and the ability to make legally and tactically sound decisions.
- Use of Force Decisions & Non-Threat Discrimination: Not every situation requires a shot. Students will face scenarios where escape/evasion, de-escalation, verbal commands, or movement are the appropriate responses.
- Integration of Technical & Soft Skills: IDBT reinforces shooting fundamentals while requiring students to apply judgment, emotional control, and adaptability—key elements often difficult to achieve in traditional firearms training.
Beyond Just Pressing the Trigger
Interactive Decision-Based Training is not about shooting faster or more accurately—though those are critical components. It’s about making the right decisions at the right time. It’s about developing the combative mind—the ability to process information, control emotions, and take action when lives are on the line.
Whether you are a responsible armed citizen, law enforcement officer, or instructor, IDBT will challenge you in ways no other training can. It will reveal your strengths and expose gaps in your preparation—gaps that can be closed through structured, deliberate training.
Are you ready to train beyond the range?
Prerequisites apply -
While this course is introductory to IDBT, it is not an entry-level course for technical skills. Students are expected to have proficiency in firearm handling, specifically the ability to safely draw from and holster a firearm. Additionally, students should meet a baseline marksmanship standard: placing five rounds into a five-inch circle at five yards in five seconds or less from concealment.
Stuff to Bring:
Defensive handgun (revolver or semiauto is fine – as long as it’s designed for defense and not for competition, hunting, target shooting, etc.)
AIWB/IWB Holster- Must be made of kydex and form fitted for your firearm specifically. No SERPA style holsters allowed. LE are welcome to wear duty rig.
300 rounds of ammo (might not use that much, but bring it just in case)
Eye and ear protection (Electronic Hearing Pro Preferred)
Note-taking materials
Positive attitude, open mind, friendly smile
Medication, snacks, water, or anything else you need to stay comfortable and attentive
Food: We’ll take a short dinner break (around 30 minutes). There’s fast-food nearby, but please consider bringing a lunch to save time.
