Intro to Garments: Constructing Skirts and Pants

Ready to take your garment sewing skills to the next level? In this course, we’ll explore the fundamentals of constructing skirts and pants, starting with essential techniques for taking measurements and reading sewing patterns.

Students will begin by sewing a basic pair of pajama pants, learning how to install an elastic waistband and sew hems. We will also create samples of common garment construction elements, including darts, pleats, waistbands, and zippers. For the final project, each student will choose a beginner-friendly skirt or pants pattern to complete with guidance from the instructor.

This course requires hands-on sewing and consistent attendance to ensure the successful completion of all projects.

Materials: All materials are included. Students may choose fabric from our stash or bring their own. Additional details will be provided during the course.

Prerequisite: Completion of Basic Sewing Part 2 or prior sewing experience.
