Imaginative Handbuilding: Colour, Collage & Storytelling with Chandler Swain - 2 Day Workshop
Wednesday June 17 & Thursday June 18
10:00 am - 4:00pm
Known for strong, lyrical, graphic and textural surfaces and often whimsical subject matter, Chandler Swain will share her handbuilding, glaze, and decorating knowledge with us in this course. We are thrilled to welcome her into the studio to encourage play in our work & methods, an operative word that is the driving dynamic of her life: "the great cosmic and human comedy, so full of adventure and possibility!"
In this course, Chandler will demonstrate the fundamentals of handbuilding and demonstrate how she achieves texture, colour and surface design:
- Learn handbuilding fundamentals to create a couple of projects, delving into more advanced techniques for those with more experience
- Discover the techniques and tools used to add strong textural decoration, specifically through collage and layered texture
- An overview of her glazing and firing methods will also be covered to finish our work
