Drawing for Absolute Beginners (Adults 18+)(including people who feel rusty, haven’t drawn for a long time, or just like to draw!)

Class fee $360 ($45 per 2 hour class)

Drawing is a teachable, learnable skill and anyone can learn to draw well - even you! This course will give you a solid foundation in the elements of drawing such as line, contour, proportion, perspective, space, light and shadow, so you can begin to draw any object, person or place realistically.

Using dynamic still life set-ups, natural objects and an occasional model, each class is devoted to drawing from observation. Every class will include a variety of time tested exercises and tools to increase your drawing ability. Master drawings by Rembrandt, Goya, Picasso and Cézanne will be analyzed to uncover each artist’s techniques and secrets. Get ready to draw a lot! You will be amazed at how quickly you progress.

The goal of this course is to promote calm, perceptual art-making, build visual skills through careful observation, and develop a positive mindset. We will work together to silence the inner critic. Drawing quiets the mind and deepens your engagement with the visual world. It is time to put the fallacy of “talent” to rest and develop your personal drawing practice with freedom and confidence.

This course is designed for total beginners, but it is open to anyone who misses drawing and would like to refresh their skills.
