Alternative Assessment: What Students Say
Fri, May 2, 2025, 1:00 – 2:00 PM EDT // 5:00 – 6:00 PM UTC
Faculty Hub - Third Floor of Boatwright Library

While much has been written about the potential benefits of alternative assessment to student learning, these discussions do not always take into account what students have to say about their experiences with alternative assessment. What are the specific benefits and challenges that students experience when learning in alternatively graded classrooms? In this session, we will share preliminary data from a current research study – Alternative Assessment: Student Perspectives. Participants will leave this session with a better understanding of how UR students perceive and experience alternative grading and some practical strategies for designing alternative assessment systems with student experiences in mind.
