Course Content:
Location and Avoidance
• New Roads & Street Works Act
• Basic principles of location and avoidance of underground services
• Hazard identification and the risks associated with them
• Reading and interpreting site plans
Sighting, Lighting and Guarding
New Roads and Street Works Act
• Basic principles of signing, lighting and guarding
• Traffic control measures • Practical use of the Code of Practice
• Use of portable traffic lights and stop/go boards
• Practical use of equipment
The candidate must undertake one question paper per unit; the time allocated for each question paper is 45 minutes. The pass mark for all tests is 80% (16 of the 20 questions correct) there are 20 questions for each street works units.
All questions must be completed by the candidate and cannot be discussed with the other candidates. The refresher test can only be undertaken in the English language, there is no facility to use interpreters.
As a CITB ATO, on successful completion of the course we will apply for the CITB Grant Payment of £140 for Location Avoidance and £60 for Sighting, Lighting and guarding.
