The First Two Seconds: Presentation Speed & First-Hit Performance

The First Two Seconds: Presentation Speed & First-Hit Performance, is a one-day combative handgun course that distills the essential elements of rapid-response training into a focused 8-hour block. Reality: most civilian gunfights are won or lost in the first 2–3 seconds. This course builds the foundation for automated responses necessary to perform in that critical window.

Built around objective data from documented defensive encounters and supported by turning target technology, this course removes artificial anticipation and forces honest, reaction-based performance. Students will engage in purposeful live-fire drills under realistic pressure, emphasizing the draw from concealment, rapid threat recognition, and effective hits within the narrow timeframes that actual incidents demand.

This one-day format focuses on core skills: establishing your baseline performance, identifying weaknesses in your presentation, and building the neural pathways for sub-2-second responses. While the full two-day course allows for greater depth and scored assessments, this intensive provides the essential framework and honest diagnostics you need to understand where you stand.

Participants should expect high accountability, clear performance standards, and an environment that strips away fantasy in favor of real-world application. Every round fired has a purpose—this isn't about ammunition consumption, but about quality repetitions under realistic pressure.

Key Outcomes:

    • Baseline assessment of your current draw-to-first-hit times
    • Exposure to realistic threat timelines using turning targets
    • Foundation drills for sub-2-second performance
    • Diagnostic feedback on your critical failure points
    • Clear roadmap for continued improvement

Who Should Attend: This course is intended for experienced shooters who want an honest assessment of their reaction times and the foundational drills to improve them. Perfect for those who can't commit to the full two-day program but need to know where they stand.
