ENT Emergency Surgery Refresher Course
Course Overview
This intensive 1-day revision course features live dissection on high-quality fresh frozen cadaver specimens. Working in pairs, surgeons will perform hands-on dissections of 4 necks, 4 noses, 4 orbits, and 4 ears over 7 hours, with each pair sharing 2 cadaver sides throughout the course duration.
Limited Places Available
The laboratory strictly accommodates a maximum of 20 dissectors to ensure optimal learning conditions.
Expert Instruction
RNSH ENT department surgeons will provide detailed guidance on surgical approaches throughout the practical sessions.
Didactic Component
Brief lectures (1 hour total) will cover the anatomy and surgical steps for the following procedures:
- Neck – Approaches for trauma and deep neck space infection management
- Nose – Lateral canthotomy, external approach to anterior ethmoid artery ligation, orbital decompression, sphenopalatine artery ligation
- Ear – Cortical mastoidectomy
Learning Objectives
This course is designed for consultants to:
- Revise operative anatomy and surgical steps for common ENT emergencies
- Practice surgical skills for emergency procedures including neck approaches for trauma/infection, rhinological emergencies, and cortical mastoidectomy
Target Audience
Practicing surgeons and trainees who cover ENT emergency on-call at teaching or private hospitals.
Please note: This is a fast-paced revision course, not a slow-paced teaching dissection course.
