Description

Students will have the opportunity to weave a scarf and some samples in an 8-harness turned twill pattern. This class will be a good refresher for planning your project, measuring your warp and setting up your loom

Students are responsible for purchasing their own Tencel yarn (or equivalent), so we will have a planning session 4 weeks before weaving begins to discuss draft choices and color & design.

During class we will cover different treadling methods, tips for becoming friends with your loom, managing selvedges, designing at the loom, weaving and finishing your project, and more.

Prerequisites
  • Must have warped a floor loom before.
Materials to be provided by/additional instructions for students
  • Students will supply a minimum of 2 or 3 colors of 8/2 Tencel (preferred) or 8/2 bamboo or cotton.
  • This project will be woven on the 8-shaft looms and warping equipment provided by the guild.

Please bring a lunch or snack if you would like. Access to a refrigerator and microwave are available in the building.
