Location: Room #3 at the Triangle Fiber Arts Center
Description
This class will introduce participants to the types of inkle looms and the bands that can be woven on them. You will have the opportunity to explore patterns presented in a variety of reference materials, including books available in the Guild library. You will make string heddles to put on the loom, warp the loom and weave.
Yarn will be provided for all students.
Materials to be provided by/additional instructions for students
- Please bring a Schacht inkle loom (as shown here) and a 5-7” stick shuttle if you have it. If you have any other type of loom, please check with the instructor (torwood@juno.com) before the class.
- The Ashford Inklette loom is not recommended for this beginner class.
- There are a limited number of guild owned inkle looms that are available on a first come, first served basis. If you need to borrow a guild loom, specify that on your registration form.
- Borrowed looms may be taken home for up to two weeks after the class.
- Non-members who borrow a loom must provide a deposit of $50 cash or check due at class. The deposit will be refunded after the return of the loom.
- Please bring scissors and a tape measure
Yarn will be provided for all students.
Bring a lunch or snack if you would like. Access to a refrigerator and microwave are available in the building
