Measure What Matters: Moving from Outputs to Impacts
The energy industry has refined the use of quantitative data to better understand how our products, services and programs are engaging with customers. We count outputs of activities - pieces of equipment installed, number of audits completed, number of jobs created, and the amount of energy reduced, just to name a few. We oftentimes do not measure how these outputs actually impact the people and communities we serve. This two-part program will take learners through these stages:

Part 1: Human Centered Outcome Based Design and Research (90 minutes, standalone)
November 5th, 1:00-2:30 ET, $149
  1. Education on models, approaches and research strategies that go beyond counting outputs to understanding impacts.
  2. Case studies of energy programming attempting to measure impacts that go beyond counting outputs.
Part 2: Operationalizing Impact Based Strategies (Part 1 Required)
November 12th, 1:00-3:00 ET, $499 (price includes Part 1)
  1. One hour of 1:1 consulting with Encolor staff on a topic that is relevant to each attendee. Receive specific guidance on how to apply impact-based measurement to your strategy.
  2. Group workshopping where we work together in large and small groups to develop a roadmap to understand not only what we are doing but how these activities are impacting our customers.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the difference between an output and an outcome
  • Learn how to use outputs as an indicator of progress
  • Develop a strategy that layers quantitative and qualitative data to create a more comprehensive picture of impacts
  • Create the beginning of a roadmap that is specific to your desired outcomes
