Classes are nonrefundable.

In this unique class we will be exploring the gorgeous texture of corrugated cardboard and how we can upcycle it and incorporate it in our mixed media art. We will learn best practices in the application of cardboard and other texture mediums that we incorporate into our pieces. We will begin class with creating an interesting, intuitive and highly-textured abstract landscape. We may also incorporate collaging papers as desired. Later in the class we will explore incorporating a human or animal face into a new painting using corrugated cardboard as a substrate for the face with a unique organic textured background. Your subject matter can be abstract or venture into abstract realism as you desire. Students will be free to explore what best suits their interest in regards to subject matter for the entirety of the class. 

Supply List: 

·       GAC 100 sealed + gesso primed cradle board (Cradle board recommended for its rigidity) or gallery wrapped gesso primed canvas 8x10 or larger

·       Acrylic paint in various colors (regular and liquid, if you have it)

·       Paint brushes of various sizes and shapes. (1” and smaller)

·       Palette knife

·       Mat gel medium

·       PVA Glue

·       Gesso

·       Corrugated cardboard (Regular and single faced-with flutes exposed)

·       Collaging papers such as gelli-prints

·       Modeling paste

·       Texture mediums: pumice gel, fiber paste, course texture medium, glass bead gel, cracking medium, tar gel, etc. (Bring what you have)

·       Decorative coarse sand or other natural textures

·       Any textural material you might like to add like gauze, textured papers, etc.

·       Water mister bottle

·       Human or animal face reference if desired (+transfer paper if you need it)

·       Acrylic Varnish 

Teacher will supply:

·       Unique textural items you might like to incorporate

·       Corrugated Cardboard (limited amount)

·       Gelli prints (limited amount)
