Explore the world of chasing and repousse in metalsmithing and jewelry making. Chasing means to work the front of a piece of metal, while repousse indicates working from the back, pushing the sheet metal into three-dimensional forms. Make your own steel tools to use in this ancient (but still current!) process. Learn how to anneal, shape, harden and temper your steel tools. After tools are created, put them to use along with using the hydraulic press, working in pitch, silver soldering, and other metalsmithing processes. Leave with a project of your choosing, a press die, and a basic set of chasing and repousse tools. Studio C.
