Beauty (Art & Food) of Japan
NAGOMI ART:
Nagomi art is a Japanese form of art therapy that uses soft pastels and fingers to create calming and harmonious images.
The name "Nagomi" means "harmony," and the process is designed to promote a sense of peace, stress relief, and emotional healing. Odia will guide you as you blend pastel powders directly onto paper to create gentle gradients, with a focus on the therapeutic, and mindful creative process rather than the finished product.
KINTSUGI:
Discover the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold, transforming damage into beauty… we won’t use gold, something more accessible :)
We will follow the Japanese restoration technique using metal powder to mend cracks and chips, embodying Japan's cultural philosophy of cherishing and preserving treasured objects that hold history, and soul. Leave with a deeper appreciation for Japanese aesthetics and take home your own beautiful creation.
SUSHI MAKING:
If you love Sushi, want to learn how to make it, have fun, then this is for you.
There’s a twist to this balance of entertainment and education. We did this in June 2025, and it was a huge success! Kent will guide you as you use your non-dominant hand, and partner with someone to make Sushi.
No matter the outcome, you’ll gain a greater appreciation for the art of sushi making.
