Hand Drum Making (+ Drumming Rhythmic Science of Brainwaves)
This is a new rule I'm implementing to ensure as many people to enjoy the "high value" of connection, collaboration, and growth that these community building experiences offer... and of course the content (whether it be crafting, food related, wellness related, woodworking, Indigenous culture, etc).
By participating in this community building experience, you are not eligible to register for the next two community building experiences I offer. The This rule will apply moving forward into 2026.
The next community building experience you'll be eligible to register will be in February -- details will be live online in the 2nd week of January.
I have no connection to the Sunalta Community Association which offers their own programming... however, I will be collaborating with them in Q1 2026 on a Food Literacy Series (more info on that to come).

Around the globe, hand drums are sacred and spiritual tools in cultures around the world, symbolizing the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and connecting people to each other, and the divine.
Drumming is one of the most ancient healing modalities that facilitates healing on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels by connecting individuals to their culture, ancestors, and the earth
In this FREE, 4-hour, community building experience, you’ll learn:
- About Drumming and Rhythmic Science of Brainwaves
- Drumming & Healing
- How to make your own Deer Hide Hand Drum + Drum Stick with guidance from a local Indigenous facilitator
We’ll provide a FREE hand drum (holes pre-punched) + drum stick kit.
We're excited to announce that we have the following Deer Hide Hand Drum + Drum Stick kits available:
- 4 x 14 inch hand drum kits
- 2 x 16 inch hand drum kits
To determine which participants get which drum kit size, we'll have a TBD method.
Plus, we'll be offering a light meal + beverage to give you energy during the workshop; these are geared to the mainstream.
If you have specific health/religious needs, feel free to bring your food + beverage to suit your specific needs.
You bring your own:
- Pliers (for pulling hide lacing)
- Water Bottle (your consumption)
- Large Bag (i.e. recyclable grocery bag) to carry your Hand Drum & Drum Stick home
- Paper Towels for drying/cleaning up
- Scissors (for cutting excess drum hide, and lacing)
Once you have created your hand drum, you can drum on your own or join drumming circles to connect with Mother Earth, and yourself.
