Cochineal Dyeing: Crimson & Cloth
Join us for an immersive Cochineal dyeing workshop exploring jewel-toned reds and timeless textile traditions. Participants will discover a stunning range of rich reds, rosy pinks, and deep wine hues while learning the full dyeing process—from crushing Cochineal, a cactus-dwelling insect, to extract its natural pigment to preparing dye baths from scratch. The class will experiment with assists to adjust pH levels, revealing a warm and varied color palette. Working with natural fabrics such as silk and cotton, participants will layer Shibori techniques to create dynamic, patterned textiles. Discover how each fabric takes on color in its own beautiful way and leave with a vibrant collection of custom, hand-dyed textiles. Materials included, Adults/Teens 16+Int./Adv.*
