Course Overview

This CPD accredited 2-day Introduction to Contraception course is designed for healthcare professionals working in Primary Care and community settings who are developing their knowledge and confidence in providing contraceptive advice. The course provides a comprehensive, evidence-based introduction to all contraceptive methods, including combined hormonal contraception, progestogen-only methods, long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), injectable contraception, and emergency contraception. Particular emphasis is placed on applying the UK Medical Eligibility Criteria (UKMEC) 2025 guidance, supporting safe contraceptive provision, and developing confidence in structured contraceptive assessment and patient counselling.
