Interpretation (Prose) (6th-8th)
What they will learn:
In this advanced course, students will refine their prose interpretation for competitive performance, focusing on in-depth textual analysis, character development, and expressive delivery. They’ll practice memorization, pacing, vocal variety, and emotional nuance to convey meaning with clarity and impact, preparing for tournament competition.
How it applies to the real world:
Competitive prose interpretation strengthens reading comprehension, critical thinking, and expressive communication. Students learn to analyze complex texts, engage audiences with confidence, and communicate ideas persuasively—skills valuable for academics, leadership, and public speaking.
Deliverable:
By the end of the course, students will perform memorized competitive prose pieces, receiving targeted feedback on interpretation, delivery, and performance technique. They’ll participate in mock rounds and simulated tournament settings to prepare for competitions.
*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken at least 1 semester of Art of Public Speaking, Introductory Limited Prep, or completed advanced Little Orator classes.
