Competitive Training Lab (6th-12th)

Who it’s for:
This lab is designed for experienced speech and debate students who are actively preparing to compete at local, state, and national tournaments. Students should have completed at least two semesters of speech and debate classes or possess equivalent competitive experience.

What they do:
Students in this lab receive personalized coaching and mentorship to refine their competitive skills across multiple events. They plan and execute competition strategies, practice under tournament conditions, and participate in mock rounds or rehearsal sessions. Students also work with instructors to develop individualized preparation plans for upcoming competitions.

How it advances competitive skills:
This lab immerses students in a high-level competitive environment, helping them improve research, argumentation, delivery, and time management. By actively engaging in rigorous practice and strategic planning, students gain the experience and confidence needed to excel in tournaments and elevate their overall performance in speech and debate.

*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken at least 2 semesters of intermediate/advance speech and debate classes or have equivalent speech and debate competition experience.
