Reading and Writing - CAT Module C (3 weeks - Late Timing)
Training for Teaching Arabic Reading and Writing Skills
It is surprising how many teaching strategies can be applied in the classroom to help students develop their reading skills. Additionally, teaching writing is probably easier than people think: in this module we start with the fundamentals and build from there by introducing strategies which can be applied at different stages of the teaching and learning process.
The module is taught by experienced English and Arabic language teacher trainers and includes approximately 30 hours which include teaching sessions, group discussions, materials development and presentations or mini-lessons. There are also homework assignments.
Modules are suitable for those with a good knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), some experience of teaching and an appropriate understanding of English. For the Arabic-only CAT, a good knowledge of MSA is the main requirement.
This module has 9 sessions over 3 weeks in addition to feedback, lesson observation and individual evaluation. There are 2 x 2-hour and 1 x 4 hour sessions per week.
To make the module more accessible, we are offering two timing options for the weekday sessions, 'Early' or 'Late'. You must choose one of these for the whole module. Everyone has the same Saturday session. There are NOT two sessions per weekday.
For more information on the CAT course as well as study grants, please see our website.
All participants will receive an attendance certificate for completing the module, but those who show progress during presentations and mini-lessons are awarded a certificate stating that they have demonstrated significant teaching skills. For those who complete all four modules, in any order and demonstrating progress, a CAT certificate will be awarded.
The full CAT course costs $1900. A $180 discount is automatically applied when purchasing your 4th module. ($520 + $520 + $520 + $340). If paying the full course fees up-front is a problem, then there are options such as Klarna (Europe) or Tabby (Middle East) available that can help. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
You will need access to a computer and basic computer literacy for this course (Zoom, word processing etc)
