2nd Period: Cooking: Quick Meals (9-12th grade)

Basic food safety, basic food preparation and meal planning will be taught in this class. This class is geared to "keep you out of the drive-thru." Basic recipes and planning strategies will be taught and practiced. These skills will be useful to high school students as they prepare to graduate and move out on their own. In addition, they can use these skills currently to help out in their parents' kitchen. While eating our food creations may be the highlight of the class, students will be required to participate equally in food prep, class work, washing dishes and kitchen clean up. The students will not need to bring any supplies to class.
While having previous basic kitchen skills and knowledge would make this class easier, it is not required. Only the desire to learn, the ability to listen, the ability to watch a demo and then attempt to recreate it, and a willingness to stay focused and safe around kitchen equipment are required for this class.
