Somerset Hills and Coast

Come and enjoy springtime walking in Somerset.

We are staying in Holnicote Lower House which is a beautiful part-thatched part-tiled cottage, owned by the National Trust, and  packed with original features. The cottage is on the Holnicote Estate which includes ancient woodlands and charming villages. Here is the link to it:

It is great for groups wanting to explore Exmoor and the parts of the South-West Coastal Path near to its start at Minehead. It is close to Bossington Beach, which is a fine place to spot coastal birds.

In the cottage there are three twin rooms and two double rooms, so we can accommodate nine or ten people.

We are planning one walk taking in Dunkery Beacon, the highest point of Exmoor. This offers views of Exmoor and the Bristol Channel, and on clear days, South Wales and Dartmoor. Another walk planned is to include the first part of the South-West Coastal Path starting from Minehead. Both walks will involve significant ascent and descent and will be towards the harder end of Moderate (‘Mod +’). A third walk is planned on the Monday.  Another walk leader would be most welcome.

The weekend is self catered; the aim is to have communal evening meals, depending on volunteers for group meal preparation. There may be a small additional cost payable at the event to cover any communal supplies, depending on the number attending.

The cost for this long weekend (3 nights) will be £180 exclusive of meals.
