Beginner Flamenco Dance Course

🗓️ Weekly on Wednesdays, 7:40–8:40 pm until March 25

Location: Happy Soul Dance Studios | Halifax

👣 Who This Course Is For

This course is ideal if you:

• Have some flamenco training we (8 weeks or equivalent )
• Want to strengthen your foundations or return after a break
• Are in a higher-level class and want extra practice on fundamentals to focus on style, correct execution and muscle memory
• Attend the Absolute Beginner class and want a second weekly session (Dance More Discount applies)

 What You’ll Experience

• Dedicated footwork practice (zapateado) that builds coordination, strength, and timing (flamenco shoes or smiliar required)
• Clapping and rhythm (compás) — the heartbeat of flamenco
• Basic flamenco steps (marcajes) and simple combinations to tie it all together
• A beginner-friendly choreography to bring everything into motion
• Focus on improving terminology, coordination, and musicality

Attendance & Missed Classes

Learning a new dance style is a progressive and carefully structured process in which the pace adapts to the group’s progress—this is why regular attendance supports both your own development and the shared rhythm of the group.

That said, we understand that life—and winter—can occasionally get in the way.

If you can’t make every class, don’t worry. We include plenty of in-class repetition, and not every week introduces new material. When new material is added, short recap videos are recorded, so you can review what was covered and continue practising at home.

Adult schedules can be busy, and winter in Nova Scotia can bring surprises. For this reason, a make-up / storm date is built into the schedule, and students may also choose to attend a make-up class one level down as a way to revisit foundations and stay connected after an absence.

If you know in advance that you will miss several classes, you may request a pro-rated fee at registration (a minimum of six classes is required to join).

Most importantly, if you miss a class or two, please come back as soon as you can. Dance learning is not about being “caught up,” but about continuing the process—returning, reconnecting, and moving forward together.

🪶 Level & Progress

Everyone joins for different reasons, schedules, and motivations. Some students are exploring flamenco for the first time, while others are deepening their foundations. Remember — some steps will come easily, others will take time.

The class is for you — both individually and as a group. The teacher adjusts the pace based on your feedback.

Tips for a rewarding experience:

• Need more repetition or clarification? Ask — others probably feel the same!
• Try not to miss classes; if you do, review the recording before your next session.
• Repetition builds muscle memory — be patient with yourself.
• Feeling under-challenged or overwhelmed? Speak with your teacher. You can switch levels or receive a refund before the third week of the course (see our Terms & Conditions).
