About the Presenter: Elan Shapiro

Shapiro’s work demonstrated that EMDR protocols could be adapted for use in group formats, humanitarian crises, and by paraprofessionals, fundamentally shifting how we think about trauma response. In 1991 Elan incorporated EMDR therapy into his work in Israel in response to the on-going terrorism. He created the 4 Elements exercise in 2007. Together, with Brurit Laub, R-TEP (Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol) was developed in 2008. In 2013, G-TEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol) an adaptation of R-TEP for applications in group setting. Eventually the TEP-Suite of protocols has evolved in collaboration with therapists from around the world who focus on brief early intervention EMDR Strategies.

Flash-TEP evolved in collaboration with Dr. Phil Manfield. Elan has received The David Servan Schreiber Award in 2014 and 2016.
