Bobbin Basics

We are starting off the year with a fun patchwork pillow! Your child can choose from a heart pillow or a shamrock pillow. These pillows have a patchwork front and a solid back. If there is time students can add a ruffle trim to the heart pillow, if they’d like.

This class takes place once a week for four weeks, starting the first full week of January .

The cost for class is $120* which DOES NOT include the stuffing, thread or backing! If you would like me to provide the stuffing, backing and thread for the pillow please include an extra $10 to the cost of class. I will have a selection of fabrics— greens (for the shamrock pillow) or reds and pinks (for the heart pillow)— that the kids can choose from to make the fronts of their pillows. I will have trim options for those who choose to add a trim to the heart pillow. If you would like your child to have their own custom fabrics for the pillow front then they would need to provide 1/4 yard of at least 4 different fabrics (or 16 scraps of fabric that each measure at least 5” square).

This class is for kids who have taken my Intro to Sewing course or have equivalent sewing experience.

Class will be held at my studio: 210 S Main St., Springboro. The studio is right above Chasing Light Art Gallery. There is an entrance to my studio at the back of the house (up the stairs) or there is one on the south side of the house (on the porch).

Because I am on the second floor, if kids do not want to bring their sewing machines up the stairs I can provide machines for the kids. Or, if your child would like to use their own machine but he/she does not want to carry it back and forth each day, I will have lots of extra storage space to store sewing machines. Please be sure that your child's name is on their sewing machine and sewing tools if they are bringing their own.

If you are coming south on Main, you can use Market Street (the street just north of my studio) to circle around back and come north to find parking on the street. OR another great option is to use the small back alley right behind the house for drop-off or pick up.

Materials List (Please avoid anything velvety, sheer or overly stretchy. If you have questions about the materials please let me know.)

• 1/2 (one half) yard of fabric for backing
• thread
• Stuffing

I can provide sewing machines and sewing tools. If your child has their own sewing tools please bring them to class. Please label any of your personal items. I ask the kids wipe down my sewing machines at the end of class.

If your child is not feeling well please do not bring them to class and contact me to find the best way to make up the missed class. Because I have limited class availability it's not always possible to find a makeup date that month. 937-546-2132

Classes with not enough students may be cancelled and registrants will be reimbursed.

I occasionally take pictures of kids and classes to post to Facebook or Instagram. If you do not want your child's picture taken please let me know before class starts.

If students finish the project early they are welcome to "free sew" which means they can use my scrap fabric to sew their own creations.
