Long-necked vases/bottles.- Open Studio (a)
The purpose of this class is for students to improve skills acquired in Beginner Glassblowing class and learn new ones in a group/collaborative setting. This beginners open studio provides a supportive environment for students who are transitioning to independent rental time. The technical focus of the class is listed in the title and students will improve their skills in the steps used in the focus pieces.
It is the perfect opportunity to practice what you’ve learned in class as well as explore new ideas and techniques. Students will work in a 2-person team, alternating between the glass blower (gaffer) and the important role of assisting the gaffer.
Students will work with the Instructor to define projects based on their skills and interests, and will receive coaching, as needed, during completion of their pieces. Instruction will focus on helping students learn at their own pace and develop their confidence in the hot shop. Fundamental techniques will be reviewed and new techniques introduced and demonstrated based on student interest and capabilities.
Pre-requisite: Prior glassblowing experience is required. Students must have completed the Beginner Glassblowing class (or equivalent experience/education) .
