What is the MSTYP Performance Ensemble?

The MSTYP Performance Ensemble is designed for young artists who are ready to commit to advanced, ensemble-driven theatre training. Members will receive rigorous movement, voice, acting, and collaboration training facilitated by industry director, Jo Bradley, culminating in a fully staged public performance season.

The 2026 MSTYP productions are: Drizzle Boy by Ryan Ennis and Snow White.

Entry is by audition only.

Audition Details

No prior acting experience is required. Auditions will be held in a group workshop format in a relaxed, supportive environment.

We strongly encourage students who identify as First Nations, PoC, CaLD, LGBTQIA+, living with a disability, and gender-diverse to apply.

COST: Free to audition. Course fees apply if accepted.

Preparation

• Prepare a monologue (max 2 minutes) - Shakespeare or Contemporary.
• Wear clothes you can move in.
• Group-based ensemble games and activities will also be part of the audition.

If You Cannot Attend the In-Person Audition

You may submit a self-tape.

Please include:

1. A short introduction: your name, school year, and availability for Monday evening rehearsals and the performance season.
2. A 2-minute monologue of your choice.
3. No need for special lighting or equipment, your phone is perfect.
4. Film in landscape orientation.

Submission deadline: 9am, Monday 19th January 2026.

Performance Ensemble Details

COMMITMENT

The Performance Ensemble is MSTYP’s senior company. A high level of commitment and professionalism is expected.

• Multiple unexplained absences may result in losing performance opportunities.
• Continued absence or lack of engagement may lead to removal from the ensemble.

REHEARSALS

• Mondays, 6:15pm–8:15pm, 8 weeks per term

July School Holidays.

Further details about additional production periods will be released after auditions.

• Term 1: Monday 9th February – Monday 30th March (8 weeks)
• Term 2: Monday 4th May – Monday 29th June (no class Monday 8th June – King’s Birthday) (8 weeks)
• Term 3: Monday 27th July – Monday 21st September (9 weeks)
• Term 4: Monday 19th October – Monday 7th December (8 weeks)

Cost

The Performance Ensemble is a year-long program and is $615 per semester.
