Finding the Flow: Gesture Drawing for Artists

Discover the joy of capturing the human figure through simple shapes, expressive lines, and clear fundamentals. In this beginner-friendly, one-day workshop, we'll work from a series of timed clothed photo references—starting with quick poses and gradually building toward one-hour drawings. Along the way, you'll learn how to find the line of action, measure proportions, simplify forms, and use light and shadow to create a convincing likeness. Using your choice of graphite, pastel, or charcoal pencils, you'll gain confidence and develop a practical process for drawing the figure. Basic drawing skills are useful, but no prior figure-drawing experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
