.5 CREDIT DRIVER'S EDUCATION
FREE DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Driver's Education is offered to students age 15 and older, who have their Florida Learner's License and are currently registered high school students in Charlotte County. This course is 6 hours of Classroom, and 6 hours of Behind-The-Wheel-Driving Instruction.
Locations: Charlotte, Lemon Bay, & Port Charlotte High Schools
Classroom Dates: Monday, Feb. 2 AND Tues, Feb 3
Classroom Times: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Driving Sessions: Driving sessions run for 4 consecutive days, beginning Feb 9 and ending on May 21. Students will be assigned 4 consecutive days during these dates.
Driving Times: Driving will be done M-TH 2:45 - 4:15 OR 4:15 - 5:45. There will be one student per vehicle. The students will go out for 4 consecutive weekdays at the same time each day for 90 minutes. There are NO make-up days. Only request drive times that your student is sure to attend. A drive time request form will be emailed to you.
Course: The Charlotte County School Board will offer Driver's Education as a .5 credit course. The course will consist of 6 hours of classroom, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. This course is open to all public or private school students enrolled in a Charlotte County high school program.
Attendance: Due to the unique structure of this course, students MUST attend ALL days of driving and classroom to receive a certificate of completion and .5 credit.
Homework: The behind-the-wheel instruction includes a Student Training Manual with homework. This manual will be emailed to you from Ault's Driving School before classes begin. The students must complete and turn in the homework on the first day of class. Homework turned in on the second class day will incur a 10% penalty. A passing grade is needed to receive a certificate and class credit. (75% correct)
Discipline Code: Students are expected to follow the Code of Student Conduct at each school. Disruptive and/or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. The principal or designee may immediately dismiss any students from Driver's Education for inappropriate or disruptive behavior. Law Enforcement will be notified for suspected use of substances.
Transportation: Parents are responsible for waiting in their cars to pick up students at the end of the classroom and the driving sessions.
Course Requirements: Students must have their Learner's License to drive in this program. When driving, students must have their Learner's License in their possession. Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes must be worn. No sandals, flip flops, hats, or food allowed in the vehicle. Cell phones or electronic devices must be turned off during driving.
Cost: There are no fees.
Deadline to Register is on the online registration or until the registrations are full.
This course will be administered and operated by Ault's Driver Education Center under contract with the School Board of Charlotte County.
Enrollment will be first-come, first-served basis, due to limited class numbers.

Completion of the registration form is not a guarantee of getting into the program. Acceptance into the program will be confirmed by receipt of an email from Ault’s Driving School within 7 days, AFTER the deadline date, with additional information. Do not contact the office prior to receiving your email, as it will only delay receipt of your information.
Driving days are Monday-Thursday consecutively (4 days) from 2:45 - 4:15 OR 4:15 - 5:45.
You MUST include the RESTRICTED LICENSE NUMBER OF THE STUDENT for the Registration to be VALID.
