About the Workshop

Middle and high school students are invited to a free, 3-hour, hands-on sewing and upcycling workshop! Learn the basics of hand-sewing—threading needles, tying knots, and making simple stitches—while transforming an old T-shirt or other lightweight clothing item into something new, useful, and creative. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to build skills, express yourself, and even create a handmade winter gift.

What to Expect

  • Beginner-friendly instruction
  • Guided practice with essential stitches
  • Time to design and sew your upcycled project
  • Support from experienced instructors
  • All sewing tools and materials provided

What to Bring

  • One clean, lightweight clothing item to upcycle
(T-shirts or woven cotton tops work best — please avoid jeans, sweaters, and thick fabrics)
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to try something new!

Who Can Attend

  • Youth ages 11-16
